Wetskills
If you are H2O, study H2O in the Netherlands and become skilled in ‘wet’
Water issues are all over the world and they ask for solutions. The Netherlands suffer from water related problems (flooding, drinking water, sanitation) for centuries. Nowadays, the Netherlands presents its knowledge and experience in water related issues to the world. An excellent water sector cannot do without excellent education programmes at the bachelor, master and PhD level. The water education sector is an integral part of the overall showcase of Dutch water excellence.
Wetskills presents the water related education programmes in the Netherlands. These programmes offer bachelor, master and PhD programmes at various water related areas (water and delta technology). Foreign students are invited to join one of our education programmes on water. Read some reactions of foreign students, who study H2O in the Netherlands.
Shanghai event
The Dutch water education presents their knowledge during the Holland Water Week at the World Expo in Shanghai. The Netherlands Water Partnership organized an innovative student event, consisting of seventeen students from Dutch universities (Delft University of Technology, Twente University, Wageningen University, Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences, Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences and Zeeland University of Applied Sciences) and thirteen students of various universities in China (a.o. Wuhan University, Hohai University and Zhejiang University). The students from both China and The Netherlands are mixed into five groups. Each group works on finding creative and innovative solutions for multifunctional levees in urban areas, ground water control in Rotterdam and Shanghai, sediment control in Shanghai or land subsidence in Jakarta.
After a thorough preparation in Holland, the students fly to China to meet their Chinese counterparts (download programme). After a teambuilding weekend in Shanghai and Hangzhou, the student groups get to work. The final results shall be presented at the World Expo during the Holland Water Week, and will be evaluated by a jury (consisting of Dutch and Chinese experts) and by the public. In the evening of June 7th the presentations of the students shall be held in the Dutch Pavilion. This event shall also be used to present the Dutch Water education programmes.
During the trip in China, the students and teachers make blogs and videos, which can be followed here.
